Design Request Form

A design request form exists to stop the two questions that eat a designer's week: what size, and where's the copy?

For agencies, studios and marketing teams.

Is the copy final? Ask, and believe the answer sceptically

Design work gets done twice when it's laid out against placeholder text that later changes length. It's the single biggest cause of avoidable rework in a studio, and it happens because nobody asked whether the copy was signed off.

So this template asks explicitly, and offers "draft - it will change" as an honest option rather than forcing a fib. It also asks for every size and format needed up front, because a designer who knows there are nine sizes designs differently from one who discovers it on Thursday.

Take orders while you're working

You can't answer the phone with your hands full, and the person calling won't wait. A form takes the order at 11pm on a Sunday and has it waiting when you open.

A brief that doesn't need a briefing

Clients describe outcomes; you need inputs. Objective, audience, deadline, budget, who signs it off - asking for those in a fixed order turns a vague request into a scope you can staff.

It's also the fastest way to spot the project that isn't ready: no budget, no deadline, four decision-makers. Better to know before the kick-off call.

One place to check what's due

Every order lands in one list, timestamped, filterable and exportable. No scrolling back through a chat thread to find out what Tuesday looks like.

Make it yours in a minute

Change the wording, drop the questions you don't need, add the ones you do, put your own colour on it. Saving publishes it, and you get a link to paste into your website, your email signature or a message. Responses land in your dashboard and download as a spreadsheet whenever you want them.

Questions

Can requesters attach brand assets?

Not yet - ask for a link to a brand folder. That's how most teams store them, and a link stays current in a way an attachment doesn't.

Should I ask for examples of what they like?

Always. Two references save an entire round of revisions, and people find it much easier to point than to describe.

Can I take payment on the form?

Not yet. Most people use this to capture the order and then invoice or take payment on collection - which also means you can confirm availability before charging anyone.

Can I limit what people can order?

Yes. Options are lists you control, so only what you actually sell appears - and you can close the form when you're at capacity.

Will I be told about new orders straight away?

Yes, if you turn on live notifications: each order is emailed to you as it arrives. Otherwise they collect in your dashboard.

Can I use a different form per service?

Yes - duplicate the template and edit each copy, so a paid-media enquiry asks different questions from a brand project. Each has its own link and its own list of responses.
