Business Coaching Application Form

A business coaching application form is a filter with good manners. Where the business is now, what's actually stuck, what they've tried, and whether they're ready to spend money and time on changing it.

For coaches, consultants and independent advisers.

Application, not enquiry - and the word matters

Calling it an application changes who fills it in. An enquiry form collects curiosity; an application collects intent, because the act of answering eight considered questions is itself a signal.

The questions that do the most work are the least comfortable: what have you already tried, and what happens if nothing changes. Anyone who can't answer those isn't ready, and finding that out on a form is far kinder than finding it out in month three of an engagement.

The same questions, in the same order, every time

Applications that arrive as emails and attachments are impossible to compare - one has the dates, another has the budget, none of them have both. You end up rebuilding each one by hand before you can make a decision.

A single form fixes that at the source: every application has the same fields, so reviewing is reading a table rather than reconstructing one.

Qualify before you give away an hour

A free discovery call with the wrong person costs the same as one with the right person. Goals, timeline and budget on the form mean the calls you take are with people ready to work with you.

It changes the first conversation, too: instead of twenty minutes of background, you open with what they wrote and spend the time on the actual problem.

One link, and a written record

Share one link and every application lands in one place, timestamped, in the applicant's own words - which is exactly what you want if a decision is ever questioned.

Edit it like a document, publish like a link

Add questions, remove questions, change the order and the wording, set your accent colour. When you save, the form is live at its own address - share it by link, QR code or a button on your site, and read the answers in your dashboard.

Questions

Won't an application form put people off?

It puts off the wrong people, which is the point. The founders you want are relieved to find someone with a process, and they'll write more than you expect.

How long should it be?

Eight to twelve questions. Long enough to require thought, short enough to finish in one sitting - and every question should change whether you'd take them on.

Can applicants attach a CV or document?

Not yet - file uploads are on the roadmap. Most people ask for a link (to a portfolio, a CV in cloud storage, or a profile) which works today and keeps the form fast.

Can I close applications on a deadline?

Yes. Close the form and anyone with the link sees a short closed page instead of the questions, so nobody fills in an application that can't be considered.

Can more than one person review them?

Yes - invite your team into the same account and they'll see the same responses. You can also export to a spreadsheet and score them wherever you like.

Won't asking about budget put people off?

It puts off the people who were never going to book, which is the point. Make it a range rather than a number and it reads as professional rather than transactional.
