Questions
Can I edit what they write?
Ask permission to edit for length on the form, as this template does, and always send the edit back for approval. Tidying grammar is fine; changing meaning is not.
When should I ask?
At the moment of visible success, not at the end of the invoice cycle. The best testimonials are written the week something worked.
Can responses be anonymous?
Yes. Make the name and email optional (or delete them) and people can answer without identifying themselves. Nothing else about the visitor is recorded - no IP address, no tracking.
Can I see averages over time?
Export the responses and you have every rating with its date, ready to chart. Each response is also readable on its own in your dashboard.
How do I get people to fill it in?
Short beats clever: ask one rating and one open question, send the link the same day, and don't make anyone log in. Most of the drop-off is length, not interest.
Will it look like my brand?
