SaaS Signup Form

A SaaS signup form should ask for as little as it can get away with. Every field between someone and the product costs you signups, and most of them collect data you never use.

For software teams, IT departments and managed service providers.

Two fields, then let them in

Signup forms accumulate fields because each team wants one: sales wants company size, marketing wants the source, product wants the role. Each addition reduces signups by a few percent, and nobody ever removes one.

The version that converts is an email and a password, with everything else asked *after* someone is inside and already invested. This template keeps one optional qualifier - what they're hoping to do - because that single answer genuinely improves onboarding and people answer it willingly.

Ask what you need to place people well

A name and an email gets you a list. Availability, interests and experience get you people you can actually use - and it's far less awkward to ask on a form than in a phone call.

A bug report that doesn't need three follow-ups

"It's broken" costs a developer an hour of guessing. Steps to reproduce, expected versus actual, browser and version turn a report into something that can be triaged without a conversation.

Fields make people answer the questions they'd otherwise skip - and being able to filter a month of reports by area or severity tells you where to spend the next sprint.

Share it anywhere

A link works in a newsletter, a text, a slide at the end of a meeting or a QR code on a noticeboard. No app, no login, nothing to install.

One minute to make it your own

Every label, option and placeholder on this template is editable, and you can add whatever this template doesn't ask. Save to publish, share the link, and export the responses whenever you need them in a spreadsheet.

Questions

Should I ask for a company name?

Only if the product needs it to work. If it's for your CRM, ask later - inside the product, where the person has already committed.

What about a phone number?

Almost never on signup. It's the field most likely to be faked and most likely to make someone abandon, and a sales call to a self-serve signup is rarely welcome.

Can I close sign-ups when I have enough?

Yes - close the form and the link shows a short closed page instead of the questions. Reopen it whenever you like.

Can I email everyone who signed up?

Export the responses as a spreadsheet and use whatever you already send email with. ava42 collects the list; it isn't a mailing tool.

Do people need an account?

No. Only you have an account. Anyone with the link can fill the form in, with no sign-up and no app.

Can this feed into our issue tracker?

Point a webhook at your tracker and every submission is posted to it as JSON as it arrives, or pull responses from the REST API. There's also a CSV export for bulk import.
